Light aircraft are the noise nuisance of the sky – what is the point of moving to a quiet residential area when some twit in a light aircraft uses the airspace above your house as a roll-a-coaster for him and his mate.
Apparently there are no noise restrictions for light aircraft.

Ludicrous really, a quick search on google for light aircraft led to the discovery of a craft called a Hyperflight M106 which has a 2.6 litre petrol engine that has NO SILENCER. Why should the manufacturer bother with the expense of such an item unless they need to – it’s the same with lawn mowers.
I mean, a 1.4 litre car is almost silent these days, certainly a larger car with a 2.6 litre engine (like the Mercedes C240 or E240) is near silent as well – so it is not a matter of technology.
What would happen if you took the exhaust off your car or motorbike and drove it around your housing estate? The curtains would twitch and the police would be paying you a visit before the sun goes down. Not so if you take the same engine, chopped the exhaust off and made it fly. Then – happy days – you can make as much noise as you like to a much wider audience.
And what about the noisy lawn mower though? This too should be regulated to be quieter - and why not. However a lawn mower is on the ground therefore the noise doesn’t travel very far, and you only cut your grass once a week in the summer if you are really keen on having the best lawn in suburbia. So not such a nuisance than the bloody red baron doing tricks 10 miles from your house, particularly as you can still hear the engine from inside your double glazing.
Whereas the twit in the light aircraft comes out whenever the weather is clear – which is when you are most likely to want to sit in your garden. Then, because the flying school is on a mission to sweat their assets’, the little sod is back every hour with a new joy rider. Its like a very large blue bottle that you cannot swat.
I have nothing against flying as such – I just wish they were as considerate as other people who enjoy their sport.
Shouldn’t be allowed.
